What is HYROX?
Hyrox is a worldwide fitness competition that combines running with functional workout stations. It's designed to test overall fitness (endurance and strength) through a series of challenges performed solo or in teams of two or four, and accessible to all fitness levels, from beginners to advanced athletes. Here's a simple breakdown:
Running: Participants run a total of 8 km, broken into eight 1-kilometer segments.
Workout Stations: After each km run, participants must complete a different functional fitness exercise. These exercises include rowing, sled pushing, and burpee broad jumps amongst other.
WHAT IS HYROX AT FIANNA?
At Fianna, we run both Hyrox classes and events. Fianna coaches and members have participated in multiple Official Hyrox competitions in Ireland and abroad, as well as our Fianna Hyrox Mocks, where we mimic the full event to time ourselves and have some fun while we are at it. Classes are mixed between our CrossFit and TURF Studios so that no station is left unpracticed.

Hyrox classes and events are super tough but really fun. The workouts push you to your limits, but having others around makes it so much better. Training with others and excellent coaches helps you push yourself further than you thought possible.

If you’re looking for a sign to sign up for Hyrox, THIS is it! As someone who had never tried Hyrox before and only started classes roughly 6 months ago, I absolutely loved it. I was terrified of some stations, like the sled push/pull, for example, but the coaches were at every station encouraging you every step of the way and helping with technique.
I felt it was a super safe and supportive environment to try it so I couldn’t recommend it anymore. The refuel station at the end was the cherry on top!!

Couldn’t recommend HYROX classes enough! They alternate between their TRUF studio if the programming is around running and the body-weight exercises in the race, or the CrossFit studio for machines and heavy movements. The program is super varied, always hard and fun, and definitely newby-friendly! Come try it ou :)
